Cop Charged In Jordan Edwards Killing

Officer Roy Oliver, the cowardly cop who opened fire on a car full of teenagers on “suspicion of underage drinking,” ultimately killing 15-year-old Jordan Edwards, has been charged with murder.

A warrant was issued for Oliver’s arrest on Friday, noting that he “intended to cause serious bodily injury and commit an act clearly dangerous to human life that caused the death.” Oliver, who had a sordid past in his career as a cop and was subsequently fired by his department after news of the killing went national, surrendered to police and was formally arrested later in the day.

If you’ll recall, Oliver originally showed up to the party Edwards and his friends were attending based on some reports of underage drinking going on at the home. For no real reason, he opened fire on the car full of children as they were leaving the scene, striking and killing Edwards in the passenger seat.

The fact that he was actually charged with a crime is all well and good…but we really need to see a conviction this time around.

MiMi Faust Files Restraining Order Against Joseline Hernandez

We guess Bonnie Bella and lil Eva won’t be having any playdates anytime soon.

Joseline, MiMi, and Stevie have had a sordid history together throughout the course of their love triangle.

Now that Joseline and Stevie have a baby as well — and are finally done fighting it out in court and with their fists — the two have found common ground and are seemingly back together.

But MiMi still isn’t seeing it for Joseline, and wants to make sure the Puerto Rican Princess stays far away from her AND her daughter.

According to the AJC, MiMi says that Stevie and Joseline’s reconciliation is all well and good for those two, but Joseline has physically attacked her on more than one occasion, and she has seen her routinely use illegal drugs at home. She’s also still salty about the Child Protective Services investigation that was triggered by her false molestation accusations.

She says if Stevie won’t look out for their daughter…she will.

“I’m not angry. I’m not jealous. People think this is a f***king joke. This is for real. This is my real life. I don’t give a f*** about the show or what was said on it. There are things I can’t even speak about on the show.

If he’s not going to protect my daughter, I will. If the shoe were in his foot, he’d do exactly what I’m doing. I don’t understand why he thinks this is okay. This is not okay with me in any respect.”

TLC Finally Announces Release Date To Crowd Funded Album

T-Boz is living up to her end of her Kickstarter bargain by finally putting out a TLC album release date. The struggle started over two years ago when the now duo started a campaign, raising $430k to record the anticipated album. Fans then grew weary when Tionne and Chilli didn’t follow through on the project in a timely fashion.

Student Left For Dead At Fraternity Induction Ceremony

Eight members of Penn State’s Beta Theta Pi fraternity were charged with involuntary manslaughter after hazing went too far. During the “bid acceptance night”, which is the official induction to join the fraternity, 19-year-old Timothy Piazza suffered from multiple head injuries due to an over-consumption of alcohol. As part of the initiation, fraternity members must undergo “the gauntlet”. According to police reports, “the gauntlet” is a series of stations where members must consume four to five cups of alcohol in under two minutes. The object is to get really drunk, really fast.

After participating in “the gauntlet”, Piazza fell down steps leading to the basement. He acquired bruises to his abdomen and was carried back upstairs. Frat house surveillance shows Piazza stumbling and hitting this head a few more times throughout the night before falling down the steps again. Other fraternity members delayed calling the ambulance, ignored another member who suggested Piazza was unconscious and tried to cover up the scene by throwing out any “evidence” of alcohol.

Needless to say, the fraternity is banned indefinitely. Hopefully Piazza’s parents find some peace knowing justice was served for their son.

SMH They Didn’t Have To Sneak A brother On His Birthday

As if Chris Brown needed any more attention, he may have taken one of the biggest L’s of 2017. While celebrating his birthday at a Houston nightclub, he was finally served the famed restraining order we’ve been hearing so much about. Karrueche Tran filed the order back in February, and after several attempts, the papers finally made it to Brown’s hands.

Tran claims that Brown “told a few people that he was going to kill” her and “threatened to shoot” her. Tran also said that he punched her in the stomach and pushed her down some stairs. Damn Breezy! After hearing that, it definitely makes his latest Instagram rant about being a jealous boyfriend sound more like a cry for help.

The former lovers are due in court at the end of May. This just goes to show you that consequences will always catch up to your actions, even if it’s your birthday.

Y’all Pray For Kanye’s Swift Return

Kanye West recently deleted his Instagram and Twitter accounts. This wouldn’t be a big deal if he wasn’t missing in action. Kanye did not make an appearance at the Met Gala, although wifey Kim was in attendance. His absence sparked rumors of divorce, but Kimye’s Krew assured us the couple is doing well and Kanye chose to stay home with the kids.

Kanye’s disappearance from the internet also follows a string of behavior indicating that he’s been going through it. Last year, Kanye was hospitalized due to dehydration, went on several rants during his TLOP tour and nearly lost his mind after his wife was the victim of an armed robbery.

It’s a bit weird that Mr. West did not stick around to promote he and Kim’s new kids’ clothing line, Kids Supply via his socials. Hopefully, he’l re-emerge with new music, new clothing or just a new attitude.

Lil Wayne Makes An Appearance on Birdman’s Instagram

Lil Wayne and Birdman could be on their way to patching up their monetary differences… or not. Lil Wayne recently performed at the Rolling Loud Festival and afterwards cheesed for photos with Birdman’s children, Bryan Jr. and Bria. Birdman posted the pictures on Instagram with the caption “#4L #BLOODLOVE”.

While Lil Wayne never sugarcoats his feelings about Birdman, Birdman has made bold attempts to cover up what’s really going on with the lawsuit that Wayne served his former pops back in 2015. This initiated a war that resulted in Wayne’s tourbus being shot up, Wayne yelling “F* Cash Money” at almost all of his shows, drinks being thrown on Wayne that allegedly came from Birdman’s section and on and on.

Hopefully, they can settle their differences soon before someone gets hurt. In the meantime, even if the estranged father-son duo are still not on the best of terms, there’s hope in knowing they can share the same space #ForTheKids.

A History Of Aretha Franklin’s Feud With Dionne Warwick

You may recall Aretha Franklin sent a fax out about a week ago detailing her issues with Dionne Warwick extend from her being “lied on” during Whitney Houston’s funeral, but several music industry insiders are now weighing in with more insight to the diva’s issues.

According to Page Six:

“A great deal of what is taking place is just jealousy” on Franklin’s part, according to a longtime music-industry figure who knows both players. “It’s all about Aretha.”

The outlet goes on to describe how the rivalry was born in the 1960’s when Franklin was reigning on the charts with songs like “I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love You)” and “Chain of Fools.” Meanwhile, Warwick was also flourishing thanks to her collaborations with Burt Bacharach, including “Walk On By” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose.”

But Auntie Aretha definitely made the first Petty Betty move by covering Warwick’s 1967 hit “I Say a Little Prayer.” Among her backup singers was Cissy Houston, Warwick’s own aunt. The Franklin version landed in the top 10 on R&B and Pop charts. The extra punch to Warwick’s gut was when Bacharach (who wrote the song for Dionne) publicly proclaimed Aretha’s cover, “Much better than the cut I did with Dionne.”

Still, according to Warwick’s rep Angelo Ellerbee, Warwick has never had issues with Franklin:

“Dionne has always spoken favorably about this lady.”

Ain’t it crazy how somebody you ain’t even mad at can be mad at you?

After Franklin’s career hit a dry spell in the late 70’s, music mogul Clive Davis signed Aretha to Arista Records in 1982. She would soon deliver her 1985 platinum album “Who’s Zoomin’ Who?” But Franklin STILL wasn’t happy because Dionne Warwick was also on Arista!

“The [lingering] tension has something to do with the fact that Clive had [signed] both artists,” said magazine publisher Cynthia Horner, who has known Franklin since 1977. “Aretha became his favorite, but Dionne was still connected to Clive.”

Franklin had bigger problems on the horizon though. Davis had also signed Whitney Houston. Y’all remember young Whitney? With the incredible pipes, model good looks and youth on her side. She was 21 years younger than Franklin AND Dionne Warwick’s first cousin. Not to mention, Clive Davis was more than a little bit excited about his newest star in the making.

Davis arranged for Aretha to do a duet with Whitney, and while the elder diva did it, she couldon’t help taking a few digs at Houston.

“She said that Whitney lacked her wisdom and maturity as a recording artist, but I just think Aretha was nervous about being out-sung by someone from the next generation,” Franklin’s late agent Ruth Bowen, once said.

YIKES.

Fast forward to her comments about missing Houston’s funeral last week, where she brought up plenty mess:

“There [had] been so much going on around [Houston] . . . around the drugs, around her and Bobby [Brown] supposed to be fighting . . . I didn’t want to be a part of that.”

The music-industry insider said there’s more to it than that.

“If Aretha was at the funeral, there would have been no limelight on her. And that’s the problem. Aretha doesn’t want to be forgotten.”

SMH. Damn shame that you can be so accomplished and still INSECURE. If this doesn’t speak volumes about the demons unleashed by the music industry!!!

As we’ve told you before Warwick and Houston aren’t the only divas to have felt Aretha’s wrath. Her list of alleged run-ins includes encounters with Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Natalie Cole and Gladys Knight, who said Franklin once ignored her backstage at the Grammys, walking past Knight as if she didn’t exist.

“Aretha’s always had problems with her female contemporaries,” her sister Erma Franklin told David Ritz, author of “Respect: The Life of Aretha Franklin,” a 2014 biography. “Her fantasy is to eliminate the competition.”

SMH. We love you ReRe but that’s just ridiculous. Take a hint from Kendrick Lamar. Be Humble. Sit Down. And stop beefing with Dionne Warwick!

Chris Rock Accused Of Having An Affair With Kerry Washington

Woah there! A scandalous affair rumor is currently rocking (no pun) Hollywood and it involves two big stars.

Chris Rock and his old costar Kerry Washington are being accused of having a secret fling back when they were filming “I Think I Love My Wife.”

According to a PageSix source;

“He was cheating on his wife with Kerry when they were filming [‘I Think I Love My Wife’] about him, ironically, having fantasies of cheating on his wife. That went on for a while, for like six months, and she found out. There’s no gray area.”

The rag also claims that those pesky sex rumors have been around since 2007 and Chris reportedly admitted during a standup routine that he was a “piece of s–t,” in his marriage to ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock. Chris reportedly said that he slept with three women; one famous, one semi famous and one a member of the retail class.” People believe Kerry’s the “famous one.”

“I take it as a joke when he says he cheated with a famous person. He even says he cheated with a member of Destiny’s Child, but not Beyoncé,” the source told PageSix.

“He was friends with Kerry around that time. They did the movie together. He was also separated from Malaak around that time. They were off-and-on a lot during their marriage. It was a rocky situation.”

SMH at Chris basically jokingly telling on himself.

Reps for both Kerry and Chris did not comment on the story but fans are up in arms about it.

President Trump Suggests That Funding HBCUs Is Unconstitutional

Remember that really silly photo op of the HBCU Presidents meeting with Donald Trump (and aged avocado Kellyanne Conway) in the White House to discuss HBCU funding?

Well if you had any doubt at all that it meant absolutely nothing, then here’s your proof. The Washington Post is reporting that YOUR Crusty Cheeto Head Commander In Chief is wondering if funding a program that helps historically black colleges and universities get loans for construction violates the constitution. Rut roh…

“The White House released a signing statement connected to the recently approved federal funding measure. Tucked away in the last paragraph, the White House announced that it would treat a program that helps HBCUs get low-cost construction loans “in a manner consistent with the (Constitutional) requirement to afford equal protection of the laws.”

People in higher education circles worried that the statement meant that the president was planning to get rid of a capital financing program that helps historically black colleges repair, renovate and build new facilities.

Congress approved the program in 1992 after finding that “HBCUs often face significant challenges in accessing traditional funding resources at reasonable rates,” according to the Education Department.

The United Negro College Fund is who initially noticed Trump’s wording about HBCUs, but according to them they’re not worried—-yet anyway.

“We’re not overly alarmed at this point, based on informal reassurances and just our own knowledge of how these funding statement get put together,” Cheryl L. Smith, UNCF senior vice president of public policy and government affairs, told The Washington Post.

We sincerely hope Trump doesn’t make any policy changes that affect our beloved HBCUs. It’s clear he and his constituents don’t value them.
