The family of a “True Blood” actor who unfortunately passed away is sharing new details on his death. Over the weekend Nelsan Ellis, 39, died after complications from heart failure.
Now his family is noting that the heart failure was from Ellis’ secret battle with addiction. In an effort to help other potential addicts, the late actor’s family tells The Hollywood Reporter through his manager Emily Gerson Saines, that he struggled with drug and alcohol abuse for years.
As a result on the day of his death, he had several health complications that ultimately cost him his life.
“After many stints in rehab, Nelsan attempted to withdraw from alcohol on his own. According to his father, during his withdrawal from alcohol he had a blood infection, his kidneys shut down, his liver was swollen, his blood pressure plummeted, and his dear sweet heart raced out of control.
On the morning of Saturday July 8th, after four days in Woodhull Hospital, Nelsan was pronounced dead. Nelsan was a gentle, generous and kind soul. He was a father, a son, a grandson, a brother, a nephew, and a great friend to those that were lucky enough to know him.
Nelsan was ashamed of his addiction and thus was reluctant to talk about it during his life. His family, however, believes that in death he would want his life to serve as a cautionary tale in an attempt to help others.”

Sevyn is revealing intimate details about her personal life including a serious battle with depression. The “Just Being Honest” songstress is revealing that she secretly contemplated ending her life and only her family members knew about it.
“I dealt with depression on a very serious level for like a year-and-a-half, and I never said anything to my fans,” Sevyn told Vibe Vixen.
“Obviously, my mom and my dad and my brother, a few family members, knew about it — but it was really, really hard. I wanted to kill myself, I really did. And through my family, and God and prayer, it turned around.
So what triggered Sevyn’s bout with depression? Turning 30.
“Turning 30 was a big trigger for me,” added Sevyn. “This is not like when you graduate high school and you get your diploma. You go to college for four years, or whatever period of time, and you get your degree. You did it, and you get to move on. I’ve literally been doing the same exact thing every day with the same amount of intensity and focus, since I was 15 years old.
To look up and be 30 years old, and to feel like this hasn’t happened yet, but you can’t quit because you’re just going to be throwing away all the years that you put into it [music]. That in itself can take a toll. I don’t care what you do in life, you want to be successful, you want to feel like you accomplished certain things.”
We’re so glad to see that Sevyn’s in a much better place. She’s currently promoting her debut album “Girl Disrupted” that hit stores July 7.

This story is downright sickening and the more we learn, the more upset we become.
According to the latest NY Daily News reports, Bakari Henderson, a recent University of Arizona graduate visiting Greece to work on a photoshoot, may have been beaten to death as the result of an argument over a request to take a photo.
On Sunday Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported that witnesses say Henderson and his friends wanted to take a photo with a waitress at the Bar Code bar but that request upset a bouncer. It’s still unclear how things escalated from there.
Henderson graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in in business administration and sports management just two weeks ago. The 22-year-old was visiting the isle of Zakynthos when he was killed early Friday morning.
Greek police have arrested two bar employees and charged them with murder while another six Serbian tourists have been arrested in the days since the attack.

Keyshia Cole’s old relationship is coming back to haunt her…in court.
You may or may not remember, Keyshia and Birdman were dating for a hot minute back in 2014. The random match ended in even more random piano grinding and eventually Keyshia jumping a supposed side jawn that she believed Birdman was hiding from her.
According to TMZ, Keyshia popped into Birdman’s LA penthouse in 2014, found Sabrina Mercadel, jumped to conclusions and whooped some azz. Now, Mercadel is suing Keyshia — three years later, oddly — for financial and physical damages to the tune of $4 million.
Just how did she reach that number? Well, it breaks down to $1.5 million for pain and suffering, $500,000 for emotional distress, $2 million for the loss of the use of a body part (huh?), $200,000 for future medical expenses, $50,000 for the loss of earnings and another $300,000 for the future loss of earnings.
In the paperwork, Sabrina insists her relationship with Birdman was “plutonic”… so we aren’t exactly sure how professionally put together this case is. The judge plans to review and approve each amount.
We’re just wondering which body part she’s claiming she can’t use anymore.

Actor Shia LaBeouf went fully rogue on officers attempting to search him after being arrested for public intoxication. TMZ obtained body cam footage from LaBeouf’s recent arrest in Savannah, GA and by the looks of it, he did not go without a fight. The actor was popped in his hotel lobby for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and obstruction according to the report. Sucks!!

Clearly, it pays to kill an unarmed black man. Jeronimo Yanez, the Minnesota officer who fatally shot Philando Castile is getting a fat paycheck.
NBC reports that the department that employed him at the time of the shooting agreed to pay him $48,500 in a separation agreement announced Monday.The money will be paid in a lump sum, minus applicable deductions and withholdings for state and federal taxes. Additionally, he’ll get up to 600 hours of accrued and unused personal leave pay.
“Since Officer Yanez was not convicted of a crime, as a public employee, he would have appeal and grievance rights if terminated,” said his former department in a statement according to NBC. “A reasonable voluntary separation agreement brings to a close one part of this horrible tragedy. The City concluded this was the most thoughtful way to move forward and help the community-wide healing process proceed.”
While it’s obvious that this killer cop shouldn’t be employed anymore, it must be niiiice to get nearly $50K after committing murder.

The four bookstores include two in Vic’s hometown of Chicago, one in New York, and another in Atlanta. Fans have the chance to quickly make their way to one of the bookstores, take a picture of themselves by the life-size picture of Vic Mensa, and post it to Twitter for a chance to have him personally play them the album this weekend.
A bunch of fans rushed to their respective bookstores and started posting their pictures in excitement, hoping to get a chance to listen to his upcoming album early. A few hours after that tweet, Vic officially announced the release date for his album: July 7th, and an official title: The Autobiography.
He has yet to announce any winners for the chance to hear the album early, but Mensa has been retweeting a bunch of those who took pictures by the album announcement. Hopefully all those tweeting to Vic detailing their crazy travel stories to make it to the bookstores will be made worth it.

38-year-old Leigh Ann Sepelyak has been arrested and charged with multiple crimes after she set her boyfriend on fire while he was sleeping, then doused him with urine to put him out.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, Leigh and her bae Grady Spencer got into it Sunday night, and when he fell asleep, she poured gasoline all over him, lit a cigarette, and threw it onto the bed.
As Spencer jumped out the bed in a panic, Sepelyak was ready with a fresh bucket of urine to extinguish the flames.
Why did she have a bucket of urine in the first place? Well, Leigh Ann and Grady were living in her parent’s basement. They had been using the bucket as a toilet.
Leigh Ann’s sautéed boyfriend was carted off to the hospital with 25%-30% of his body covered in burns and placed in critical condition. She has been charged with attempted homicide and arson.
Apparently revenge doesn’t necessarily have to be cold.
