Venus Williams’ Fatal Car Crash Footage Revealed [Video]
As you know, the estate of the passenger who died in the accident, Jerome Barson, is suing Venus for wrongful death, amid claims that she was speeding and negligent.
From the just-released video footage, it appears that the driver of the car that struck Venus was the one moving a bit too quickly, while Venus was waiting for a car in front of her to move so that she could clear the intersection.

Jewish Group Outraged At Jay-Z’s Anti-Semitic Lyrics
The Anti-Defamation League, an organization that supposedly keeps its eye on bigotry and racism in the United States and abroad, has publicly stated that it has a problem with a line from “The Story of O.J.” on Jay-Z’s new album.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the track, check it out:
Apparently, Jay’s mention that Jewish people are shrewd investors and property owners read as offensive rather than informative.
‘You wanna know what’s more important than throwin’ away money at a strip club? Credit/ You ever wonder why Jewish people own all the property in America? This how they did it.’
The organization believes that Jay’s bars feed into long-standing stereotypes that, while positive in connotation, feed into bigotry. Think “Asians are great at math,” or “Black people run really fast.” As a rep shared with Rolling Stone:
“The idea that Jews ‘own all the property’ in this country and have used credit to financially get ahead are odious and false. Yet, such notions have lingered in society for decades, and we are concerned that this lyric could feed into preconceived notions about Jews and alleged Jewish ‘control’ of the banks and finance.”
However, the ADL doesn’t think Jay-Z necessarily meant to say something so stereotypical.
“We do not believe it was Jay-Z’s intent to promote anti-Semitism. On the contrary, we know that Jay-Z is someone who has used his celebrity in the past to speak out responsibly and forcefully against the evils of racism and anti-Semitism.
[But] the lyric does seem to play into deep-seated anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jews and money.”
All well and good, we guess. But the ADL seems to be missing the fact that the song AIN’T ABOUT JEWISH FOLKS! It’s rapped out advice and observations specifically for us.
Either way, we doubt Jay plans to back down from a single thing he said on the track. What do you think? Is the ADL within their rights with this one, or do they need to chill and let Hov rock while trying to give us a million dollars worth of game for $9.99?

Game Show Host & Actor Fires Back In $60 Million Suit By Ex-Wife
Steve Harvey has hit back at his ex-wife’s $60 million lawsuit that alleges he tortured her, held her against her will and even “murdered her soul.”
Steve filed court docs last week asking that the judge throw Mary Vaughn’s case out because he said he said her lawsuit was frivolous and didn’t have a leg to stand on.
In court docs, Steve characterized his second wife as a woman who hasn’t been able to get over their 2005 divorce and has mounted a campaign of harassment, frivolous lawsuits and media slander for years.
“Unwilling to move on with her life, Ms. Vaughn has engaged in a prolonged pattern of harassment and vexatious litigation against Mr. Harvey that has resulted in four separate injunction orders and a judicial finding of contempt against Ms. Vaughn for violating these orders on at least 20 occasions,” Steve’s answer, obtained by BOSSIP, states.
Mary is suing for intentional infliction of emotional distress, child endangerment, conspiracy, breach of contract, torture, kidnapping – and bizarrely, “soul murder.”

According to her complaint, Mary said that Steve inflicted “prolonged torture with the infliction of severe mental pain and suffering.” Mary said she tried to commit suicide by self-medicating in a bid to stop her pain and said that both Steve and his lawyer had caused her prolonged “severe emotional distress.” She want’s $60 million in damages.
But Steve said Mary’s allegations were poorly explained in her court docs and barred by the statute of limitations. Steve also said her claims can’t be brought to trial because they were handed through the ex couple’s divorce.
Steve and Mary were married from 1996 through 2005, and have one son. Two years later, Steve married his third and current wife, Marjorie.

Philando Castile Scholarship Awarded To Young Man On Anniversary Of His Death
Philando Castile’s high school classmates are keeping his name alive and helping out young black scholars at the same time. A group of Central High School alumni from Castile’s graduating class of 2001 started a $5,000 scholarship to be awarded to a young man of color each year according to MPR News.
This year they honored their first scholar, Marques Watson, who graduated from Central High School this year. This came exactly one year after he was killed by police officer, Jeronimo Yanez.
Marcus is already set to attend St. Paul College for two years to study mechanical engineering before transferring to a HBCU. Marcus said his family was “screaming and happy” that he has this chance to continue his education.
“Before I received this scholarship, I had no way … at all, that I was going to be able to help myself, and my family really has no money to help me,” Watson said. “This scholarship is great because it takes a little weight off my shoulders.”
The scholarship committee is now hoping to raise $100,000 to be able to form an endowment for the award.

Maryland Governor Looks Into Allegations Of Graduation Fraud In PG County
Prince George’s County has 5 of the top 10 richest Black neighborhoods in America according to Atlanta Black Star. It stands to reason that communities like PG County where there are stable homes and economic empowerment would likely yield an above average high school graduation rate.
However, according to the Washington Post, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is skeptical of all the #blackexcellence taking place just outside the nation’s capitol.
Governor Hogan has launched an investigation into PG County school’s where there have been allegations that teachers are finessing students’ grades to increase the graduation rate.
The CEO of Prince George’s County Schools, Kevin Maxwell, denies any such thing.
We’re definitely gonna keep an eye on this one. If Governor Hogan doesn’t come back with some hard evidence then this whole investigation into one of the wealthiest Black communities in America is gonna look REAL funny in the light.

Black College Grad On Greek Vacation Beaten To Death Over Bar Dispute
SMH. A 22-year-old University of Arizona student was reportedly beaten to death outside a bar by a dozen peole while on vacation on a Greek island. ABC Reports say Austin Native Bakari Henderson had gotten into an argument with a bouncer inside the bar and things escalted. More people joined in, beating the young man unconscious.
Greek Police have arrested a 34-year-old Greek man and a 32-year-old British man of Serbian origin, on murder charges, according to New York Daily News.

R.I.P. ‘True Blood’ Actor Nelsan Ellis AKA “Lafayette” Dead At Age 39

Nelsan Ellis Of True Blood Fame Dead At 39
Sad news breaking just now, Nelsan Ellis of the long-running hit HBO show True Blood, has died at the far-too-young age of 39 according to The Hollywood Reporter.
His manager, Emily Gerson Saines, tells THR:
“Nelsan has passed away after complications with heart failure,” Saines said. “He was a great talent, and his words and presence will be forever missed.”
Says HBO:
“We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Nelsan Ellis,” HBO said in a statement. “Nelsan was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of True Blood. Nelsan will be dearly missed by his fans and all of us at HBO.”
True Blood creator Alan Ball:
“Nelsan was a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me. Working with him was a privilege.”
Our sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to Nelsan’s family.

Fatal Shooting At A Gender Reveal Party In Cincinnati Leaves 9 People Injured

Shooting At Gender Reveal Leaves 1 Dead, 8 Injured
What is always a very happy, life changing moment for many couples turned into a nightmare late Saturday night when the Cincinnati police received a call regarding a shooting that took place at a gender reveal party. There were nine people shot total–three of them being children–with one fatality. There is no known motive for the shooting, and no suspects for who pulled the trigger. The police call was placed at1:20 p.m. about reports of a shooting at a house in Colerain Township, a private residence.
Though it is known that there was one citizen shot that resulted in death, the condition of the other eight who were wounded is still unknown. They were transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center respectively. It is thought that all of the subjects are still seeking medical care, though the condition of the victims has not yet been released. On the bright side, it has been reported that none of the three children who were involved in the shooting have any life-threatening injuries.
This investigation is still being held and none of those involved have spoken with detectives as of yet.

Chris Bosh Shares Open Letter To The City Of Miami
It’s the end of an era.
Chris Bosh’s time as a Miami Heat player have come to a close, and he’s paying tribute to the city that has shown him so much love for the past 7 years. He published a letter on his website titled, “A letter to Miami,” beginning the heartfelt walk down memory lane with, “wow, what a ride!” Though Bosh hasn’t been able to play any games since February of 2016 due to injuries, The Heat officially waived him from the team last week.
After blood clots shut down his break in both the 2014-2015 season and the following year, Chris failed his pre-season physical last season and wasn’t able to play even one game. Nothing in his letter addresses whether or not he will look into playing ball for any other team in the future or upcoming season, but under NBA rules, he cannot play for The Heat ever again.
In his letter to Miami, Bosh seems sentimental, describing all of the friendships he’s built, weddings he attended, and a love of Miami’s Spanish culture. It’s not all positive recollections in his letter though, he also recalls those very blood clots that took him out of the game:
“And then came not being able to play the game I love, the game that I’ve spent a lifetime working to master and evolve with and find success in,” Bosh wrote. “I was very upset for a long time. They say you just have to play the cards that you’re dealt and that’s another lesson I truly understand now. Learning that information about my health during All-Star Weekend was extremely tough.”
Even though Bosh is not finishing out his contract with the Miami Heat, he will be paid the remaining $52.1 million from the last two years of his contract. There have been talks of him returning to television after his stint as an analyst for Turner Sports late last season. The blood clots that keep impeding Chris are said to be career-ending, but no official announcement has been made regarding his next steps. He ends his letter by thanking all of his supporters and expressing his own uncertainty about the next steps of his journey.
“Thank you to everyone—here in Miami, across the nation and around the world—who has been a part of #TeamBosh. I hope you will continue to follow me on my journey, wherever that leads me.”
